The theme of my current work focuses on ephemeral experiences. They have occurred many times when I was photographing nature, urban or/rural settings, on the highway, in pastures or even in ditches. I call these moments visual signposts that mark places where sudden emotional feelings took place that created a brief sense of tranquility and then rapidly vanished away.

I wanted to recapture those feelings I have encountered through my work. I am fascinated with the phenomena of personal and sudden momentary experiences. They help me remember that change and impermanence are inevitable and nothing in life remains the same forever, so embrace the moment.

My photo-assemblages are predominantly photographic images with a miniature narrative construction surrounding the picture frame. I use color to attract the viewer into taking a closer examination. I use play to improvise and interact from an intuitive state. The work is never preconceived. It talks and I listen.

My works are mixed media in nature, which include digital ink jet prints, wood metal and plastic constructions, marine and land specimens, synthetic and natural materials, found objects, vintage toys, everyday objects and thrift store purchases. The photographic images are minimally manipulated only for the purpose of creating a desired mood, tone or feeling. My artwork aligns closely with Pop Culture Surrealism and Magic Realism.

Inspired from lyric songwriter, Bob Dylan, “Mr. Tambourine Man”

“To dance beneath the diamond skies, with one hand waving free”.
