Joseph Haid

Joseph Haid, Hudson, WI, In. Art Show JudgeArtist’s Statement:  EPHEMERAL (Momentary Signposts)

The theme of my current work focuses on ephemeral experiences. They have occurred many times when I was photographing nature, urban or/rural settings, on the highway, in pastures or even in ditches. I call these moments visual signposts that mark places where sudden emotional feelings took place that created a brief sense of tranquility and then rapidly vanished away.

Rurik Hover

RurikArtist Statement:  My work has been called “Dark Pop,” as it focuses on manipulating imagery to fit a particular, and often non-rectangular surface to create a sense of intimacy between the viewer and the object. I use a photorealistic style because I believe in the beauty of reality and the details present in every object. However, I prefer to manipulate my images, through color, scale, juxtaposition or contrast to create something more than just a painting of a photograph.

Steve Forseth

Steve Forseth, Stillwater, MN In. Art Show JudgeArtists Statement:  Working with various materials can be a positive challenge. Each has its own way of displaying characteristics of a particular subject. The medium can shape the identity of what I am trying to reveal. Creating and working with compositions that form their own identity gives me great satisfaction.
